BBI’s priority of Mission Mobilization was expressed for several years through Mission Days, an annual mission event for several years.
In spite of frigid January temperatures, every year some 200 enthusiastic and teachable people gathered in Riga to attend Mission Days….perhaps the most important mission mobilization event in the Baltic nations.
Beginning in 2006, BBI brought current and future missionaries together every year for Mission Days that provided education, encouragement, motivation, opportunity and vision for world missions.
In January 2007, the guest speaker was Johan Candelin, President of First Step Forum and Goodwill Ambassador of the World Evangelical Alliance. He is also the founder of Friends of the Martyred Church and one could hear a pin drop when he described example after example of people who are suffering for the Gospel.
In January 2008, the special guest was legendary missionary, Don Richardson, author of Peace Child. As part of the Mission Days vision, the book, Peace Child, was translated and released in Latvian. We also put the Peace Child movie into Latvian and rejoiced when it premiered in Riga. Richardson’s teaching was compelling and deep. He traced the theme of world missions through Genesis to Revelation.
In January 2009, Jeff Fountain, European Director of Youth With a Mission, was the main speaker. His understanding of how the totality of the message of Scripture intersects with the Europe of today was fascinating.
In January 2010, Lindsay Brown, International Director of the Lausanne Movement, was the main speaker. Copies of his book, Stars to Shine, which has been translated into Latvian, were distributed to all 250 participants. has already been translated and produced in Latvia. The theme for Mission Days 2010 was, “Here am I, Lord, send…him.” But at the end of the conference, many sincerely dedicated their lives to the Lord to be whatever, do whatever and go wherever.
John McNeill, of Agape Europe, was the main speaker of MIssion Day 2011. His messages focused on the importance of every believer being actively involved in the disciple-making process. Citing 2 Timothy 2:2, he showed the discipleship progression as it was started by Jesus to Paul to Timothy to faithful men and to others.
In January 2012, Rebecca Manley Pippert, was our special guest. Her talks centered around her best-seller, Out of the Saltshaker and into the World, and focused on helping us develop a thoroughly Christ-centered approach to sharing out faith…Biblically and naturally.
