BBI helps Latvians know, love and follow Christ through target group initiatives.
Sharing the transforming Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ has always been a priority for BBI.
Most of Chuck Kelley’s early trips to Latvia focused directly on evangelism. At first he served as the evangelist and later he invited other gifted evangelists, like Steve Russo and Bob Cryder, to serve. At times, BBI organized and carried out major evangelistic campaigns, like Hope ’91, Hope ’92, Hope ’94 and Hope ’99 with Luis Palau. Several thousand people have made public professions of faith in these events.
In recent years, BBI has helped organize Latvia’s National Prayer Breakfast, where the Gospel has been creatively shared with hundreds of influential leaders. Former member of Parliament, Inese Slesere, leads the Prayer Breakfast movement in Latvia; Lienite Bemera has managed the Prayer Breakfasts for several years.
Eagle’s Wings Camp in Ergli also falls under BBI’s umbrella of ministries. Hundreds of children and young people are engaged with the gospel of Christ every year. And many respond. One specialized event at Eagle’s Wings every summer is the Teen Orphan camp, Otra Alpa. Every summer some 60 institutionalized teens come to camp and experience what they have never experienced before….unconditional love. A loving context is always the most effective place to share the Gospel.
Because of the many partnerships facilitated by BBI, countless evangelistic projects have been undertaken. They have taken the form of summer camps, Vacation Bible Schools, concerts, street ministry, dental clinics, specialized youth events and church outreach programs.
