MADONA, Latvia – Eagles Wings camp is pleased to be a blessing to Latvian churches. On October 5th and 6th, Madona Baptist church held its third annual church camp. About 25 people participated. We talked about commitment, priorities, and our five year plan. There also was lots of food, games and fellowship. Baltic Pastoral Institute student Kristaps Kulpe and his family joined in the camp. This was their first weekend with us as Kristaps has begun an internship with the church.

October 30th – November 2nd were the dates of the annual fall youth camp, “Totally His”. This is an annual follow-up camp during the school fall break for summer campers. Summer camps are evangelistic in nature and fall camp is more a time for discipleship. Thus the sub-theme, “experiencing the presence of God”. This year we had 32 campers.

Eagle’s Wings director, Diks Bortnikovs, shared, “There were some very emotional moments at this camp. When we invited the campers to right down on paper the wrong and sinful things in their lives and then gave them the opportunity to nail those things to the cross, asking Jesus to forgive them, there was much weeping and you could sense a real spirit of repentance. Then I took all those papers off the cross and threw them in the wood stove.

Such a sense of relief as we experienced the power of forgiveness. The following Friday, Madona Baptist church youth night resumed. 30 youth attended, nearly all had been to the camp the week before. Thank you to all who support Eagle’s Wings. Praise God for changed hearts and lives!
