$100 Sends an Orphan to Camp! 100 Orphans Need Scholarships
By Charles Kelley and Jaycee Jensen
RIGA, Latvia – What happens when you help a Latvian orphan go to a New Hope Latvia summer camp at Eagle’s Wings?
Nature and Adventure – Campers explore nature, participate in new adventures and test their limits in a healthy environment surrounded by the grandeur of God’s creation. Eagle’s Wings is especially a beautiful setting.
Lifelong Friendships – Good friends who exert positive peer pressure can make all the difference in an orphan’s life. This is especially important for kids who live in institutions. Relationships with caring adults and other campers, forged through shared experience and the compressed time at camp, can last a lifetime.
Adult Mentors – Orphans spend precious little time in meaningful conversation with adults each week. At camp, caring counselors and mentors come alongside campers, helping them think through issues and experiences in a way that will prepare them for their future. Many orphans point back to positive role models they met at camp as ones who helped shape the direction of their lives.
Transformed Lives – At New Hope Camp, young people have the mental room to consider some of the most important issues of life. This break from the craziness of regular routine allows campers to think about their future, evaluate unhealthy patterns and discover the truth that God loves them and has an amazing plan for their lives. As orphans give their lives to the Lord Jesus, everything within them begins to change.
