Some Prayed. Some Gave. Some Came to Build.
By Dan Roth
The construction of the new main lodge at Eagle’s Wings Camp is almost complete. And we are humbled, grateful and extremely happy to announce that the final funds have come in for the lodge!
$200,000 in total have been given.
Praise God and thank you so much to so many! The response was terrific in every way. Some prayed, some gave, some came to help build and many did all three!
The result of such a concentration of effort is that the long-time dream of Eagle’s Wings Camp for a lodge that allows our campers to all meet and eat together under one roof has been realized.
After many years of eating in shifts and meeting outside or in big tents, you can imagine what an incredible blessing the lodge is to Eagle’s Wings!
And it happened so fast! The foundation was laid in November, and by mid-summer the main floor was ready and being used by summer campers. This includes the main meeting room/dining hall, kitchen and bathroom facilities.
The upper floor is nearly complete: we are still waiting for floor covering and sinks and toilets to be installed. The outside stairs and deck for the upper floor still needs to be built.
The upper floor will effectively serve as a third cabin with two suites to accommodate leaders who bring small children with them. One of the suites will also double as an office.
The large wood furnace will be housed in its own building with a wood storage room and an extra room for summer overflow (probably a boy’s cabin).
The foundation for this building was poured last week and construction is scheduled ASAP. We had our first frost at Eagle’s Wings Camp on September 30. In Latvia, that is a warning that it will soon be time to turn the heat on!
We are so grateful to all of you who have offered your prayers, your gifts, and your time to toward building the new lodge. Thank you!
