The First Gathering of BBI’s “Otra Elpa” Camp for Teen Orphans Marks the Opening of the Brand New Lodge at Eagle’s Wings Camp
By Charles Kelley
ERGLI, Latvia – When Jaycee Jensen and Susan Paterson started planning this summer’s camp for teen orphans they had no idea that their event would mark the opening of the new lodge at Eagle’s Wings.
But the dream has become a reality. Even so, the lodge is the tool. The purpose is the kids. And it was kids who filled the lodge for the first time on the Monday evening of the 29th of June.
One of the Latvian camp counselors, himself abandoned as a child, sent a message that it was his joy to lead a teenage orphan to the Lord that first night. Hallelujah.
Of course camp is much more than a great lodge in which to gather. It includes a great program. Take a look at some of the other super fun things everyone has been able to do. Swimming. Canoeing. Zip-line. High ropes course. Capture the Flag. Climbing Wall. Hiking.
But the ultimate purpose is to show every participant a portrait of Jesus … in words, action, attitude and relationship. But that is not all; we strive to introduce as many as possible to the person of Jesus.
Camp is not over. I look forward to hearing more good news soon.
Even though the lodge is in use, the upstairs is not finished yet. About $40,000 of the original $200,000 is still needed. If you want to give, click here.
