RIGA, LATVIA – It is easy to look at a picture of smiling faces and think that all is well, but these kids are living with broken and heavy hearts. As we spent time with kids this summer, stories poured in. I am in the orphanage because…
“My dad died and my mom is a drug addict. After 13 years of silence, she is now contacting me for money because she knows that I am 17.”
“I was put in a foster home at age 3, and was recently removed from that home because my foster parents were drinking and trying to get me to drink with them.”
“I am 16 years old. When I was out with friends a couple weeks ago, I was raped and now I think I am pregnant.”
“I have lived in the orphanage with my seven brothers and sisters for as long as I can remember. Our mom visits us, buys us phones and computers, but we still live here.”
“I was put in the orphanage at the age of 14 and it was the best day of my life. Now my dad is trying to get me and my sister back, and I don’t want to go back to that hell.”
“My parents drank everyday and hit me, so my sister and I were put in the orphanage. She has been adopted, but I have been left behind.”
The stories go on and on and on. With a heavy heart, we continue to love these kids and seek to offer them healing through Christ, hope through our relationship, and the ultimate love of our Father God!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS!
Please pray for us!
1. For wisdom and unique love for each of the kids we serve here.
2. For discernment as we seek to honor God in our daily interactions with orphans, caretakers, directors and other relationships.
3. For financial support, as we look for ways to help these kids develop and heal through extracurricular programs and counseling sessions.
