RIGA – Beginning January 1st, Dustin and Kristine officially joined BBI's team of missionaries who serve in Latvia. They are fascinating people.
Kristine is a native Latvian who grew up in Riga attending a presitgious art school where she learned to paint. Kristine gave her life to Christ at the Luis Palau Evangelistic meeting in Riga in 1989. In the early 90’s she often served as an interpreter for foreign ministry teams. In the process she met Dustin and their relationship grew as they were planting a church in the Latvian countryside. Ever since she has partnered with Dustin in all of the ministries God has led them into. Right now she is most involved in leading ladies ministries and coordinating a new Sunday school program.
Dustin is a man of many talents and interests. He first came to Latvia in 1993, and over the years has focused primarily on preaching and teaching Bible studies. Various ministries and activities to support those ministries have varied greatly: published discipleship materials, hosted traveling ministry groups, built houses, led youth ministries, and established a camp/conference center. He is currently Director of Eagle Wings Camp in Ergli, and the pastor of the Baptist Church in Madona, and serves on the Council of the Latvian Baptist Union. He will also teach some classes for the Baltic Pastoral Institute.
Dustin and Kristine have been married for 13 years and have two beautiful girls, Bethany (6) and Rebecca (4). They are living in Oregon this spring in order for Dustin to attend Multnomah Seminary in Portland. They return to Latvia in May just in time for a full summer of camps and conferences.
Dustin says, "We are thrilled to be joining BBI at this time. God has orchestrated our work together in a variety ways since 1998. We are eagerly anticipating a myriad of opportunities as we seek to support church growth through many of the churches that we have separately worked with for the last 15 years. We really feel that we are on the threshold of new opportunities.”
