Founded in the 13th century, this distinguished spiritual center has witnessed the Crusades, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Reformation, and both Soviet and Nazi occupations. It was a sacred gathering place for Latvia’s independence movement in the early 1990s. In 2004, Thomas Kinkade went to Latvia with Bridge Builders International.
