Thank you for praying!

PHILOMATH, Oregon – After staying very close to home for nearly 5 months, I will return to Latvia on July 6th. I will be in Latvia for a month.
Some have asked if BBI has any big projects like Prayer Days in the summer. No – we are actually too busy during the summer to pull off one of BBI’s signature events!Though every summer is different, for BBI it usually means helping various churches and ministry teams that are ministering in Latvia. This may mean that we arrange for logistics, or help teams plan their ministry projects, or spend lots of face-to-face time with a variety of people from abroad.
Often people ask me to take them on one of my famous walking tours of Old Riga, which I have been leading for many years. The tour can last as up to half a day, depending on people’s interests and schedules. I love showing Riga’s unique landmarks and architecture, and telling fascinating stories about political and spiritual highlights that have occurred in these places.
My schedule for the month usually fills up during the first few days. It consists of planning and preparation meetings with our Latvian team, preaching in various churches, visiting Eagles’ Wings Camp and taking part in a camp board meeting. I will be involved with Baltic Pastoral Institute, planning the upcoming year, meeting with students and participating in its special recruitment camp. I also make it a priority to spend one on one time in mentoring relationships with several individual pastors, missionaries, students and people of influence.
For the last few years, when I have had some spare time I try to paint. This is not only great fun personally, but a wonderful way to get to know artists, who now are among my closest friends. Some are believers but most don’t know the Lord, and art has become a wonderful bridge to engage in profound spiritual discussions.
After Latvia I head for Switzerland where I will be speaking at a conference for several Italian pastors who have planted churches in the Lausanne area. I always love personally ministering in the Italian context...and of course, what is not to love about Switzerland?
If you want please refer to my schedule listed on the right side of this page. I will try to keep it fresh and current.
