130 Participants Truly Savoured a Special Time with the Lord

RIGA, Latvia – “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation: And uphold me with a willing spirit.” Ps.51:12. This verse from Psalm 51 was the leading motive of Prayer Days 2010.
The goal of Prayer Days since the very beginning in 1999 has been to promote the fellowship between different denominations while keeping Jesus as the main cornerstone in these relationships. Again this year Prayer Days was dedicated to fellowship and to restoring the relationships with the Lord, thinking especially about relationships in the family - how they are influenced by active ministry and how while serving others we tend to forget the leadership of the Lord in our lives, and we tend to forget about the people He has allowed us to meet closer.
130 participants took part in this year’s Prayer Days – pastors and their families, leaders and workers of different organizations, missionaries, students of Baltic Pastoral Institute and special guests from Lithuanian Baptist Union and LCC International University (Klaipeda, Lithuania). Worship at the event was led by the Pastor of the Talsi Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mareks Ignats, and his worship band. During all three days we could listen to the lectures of Wally Schoon, participate at seminars, spend time alone with God and be in fellowship with other participants – and be away from the everyday tasks that usually keep coming up all the time.
As organizers, we were happy to see the participants truly savouring the time given – using the opportunity to stop, to take rest from daily routine, learn new things, and experience a special time with the Lord.
Here are some reflections from several Prayer Days participants:
“I like the idea about an interdenominational event where people can pray for one another.”
“I have received important reminders.”
“Prayer Days for me is like the strengthening of my faith and confidence. I have radically changed the rhythm and place of my life to be able to follow Jesus more fully.”
“I have been spiritually filled and received a renewing in Jesus.”
“I have seen something that I am not able to do yet but that I want to change in my life.”
“During these Prayer Days God caught me in something that I did not think I have problems with.”
